%X Nowadays, ulcers are still a big public health concern, even though there are prevention methods, they are not as effective as they should be. Some scientific articles claim that electrical stimulation is the ideal adjunct treatment and prevention method for ulcers. Is there some truth in these statements or is there not enough evidence? In this review we analyse the current scientific evidence available of the possible association between electrical stimulation and ulcers. The foundation of electrical stimulation therapy may be related to the increase of oxygen circulation and blood flow to the affected tissue. Furthermore, they affirm it reduces bacterial burden and pain. As a result, they suggest that electrical stimulation therapy would be the perfect additional therapy to the standard wound care treatment. Therefore, a systematic bibliographic review consulting databases was conducted. After analysing the information available from scientific articles, no conclusive results have been found due to the lack of larger study samples. Across the different studies it may seem beneficial, but more research is required to evaluate more thoroughly and objectively this type of treatment and its effects in relation to ulcers.
