    Resumen:
Introduction: The ability of dentists to perform Methodology: A questionnaire was used to assess the perception of theoretical knowledge of 53 fifth year dental students on CPR. Multiple choice questions were used for the purpose. The study compared different variables,in order to assess how students who have gone through dissimilar experiences and training, perceive their own knowledge on basic CPR techniques. Results: According to the study, the majority of dental students felt more confident in giving CPR after they received the University’s training in the simulated hospital. Additional training was welcomed by most students, with a strong preference for regular CPR training. The training received by the dental students does not go into enough depth when teaching students how to use equipment such as the defibrillator. Additional training outside the University showed an improvement in the students’ perception of their own abilities on providing CPR. Conclusions: The training received by dental students could be improved by expanding the contents of the material to focus more on equipment such as the defibrillator,as well as by increasing its frequency. Repetitive and up to date training may increase dental students’ perception of being able to provide CPR,as well as retain their skills and knowledge
